On 15 January 2011 Lisa and Gerhardt tied the knot at The Plantation in Port Elizabeth with 120 of their guests looking on. The groom’s sister Ulagh and her husband (who forms Two Tone Music) played the music during the ceremony and the couple performed the candle lit ceremony.

ATTIRE
When Lisa saw Jason Kiecks design at the 2010 annual bridal fair, she knew that was the dress she wanted to wear. “The white dress had silver touches with a diamante buckle just below the sweetheart neckline. The bottom half of the dress had a few layers of fabric – one being a silver print of stars, covered by a flowy netting, adding to the princess-feel, says Lisa”.
Lisa wore beautiful shoes that she bought from Catherine at Catherines Bridal. Her hair was done by The Hair Studio in Uitenhage and Theano did her make-up.

DETAILS
Lisa and Gerhardt’s theme was Bright and Bold. They combined cerise pink, black and silver and the end effect was very dramatic. Lynley from Floral Creations set the tables with black and white overlays, with tall candelabras that were hired from Designer décor. These were set off with flowers on top. The beautiful flower arrangements consisted of cerise pink gerberas and roses. Lynley added smaller candles and single flowers on the tables. Beautiful vintage lanterns were hung above the main table.
Papermaster printed all their stationery that matched the final look of the wedding beautifully.
According to Lisa, Gerhardt, not really a chatterbox, had the guests hanging onto his words whilst doing his speech. “His words were just so beautiful and so true from the heart and it made me all emotional”, says Lisa.
Although the couple both don’t really enjoy the dancefloor, both of them were surprised at how special their first dance were. Opening the floor with Etta James’ “At Last” the guests sang along and joined the couple as they finished it off. DJ Drew kept the guests dancing throughout the evening.

THE CAKE
The couple decided on cupcakes for their wedding cake, with a topper cake that was wrapped in silver tissue paper. They openly admit their shopping fetish and even had The Baking Shop make figurines of a bride and groom holding shopping bags.

PHOTOGRAPHS
Ingrid Marais photographed the couples beautiful day, and the photo’s are just amazing.

HONEYMOON
After their wedding the couple enjoyed a fantastic honeymoon at Zwartberg Moutainview Lodge – Oudtshoorn.
ADVICE
Words of wisdom from Lisa: “All I can say is DELEGATE. Whenever I was feeling overwhelmed by the demands of the wedding combined with not being able to carry out those plans from work, I would just ask my mom or my sister to call, email, proof whatever needed to be done. I was sad that I couldn’t be as involved with all the plans as I would have wanted to be, but it was comforting to know that I had such a strong support system that were willing to help out with anything. It is also never too early to start planning, so don’t waste time in booking your service providers – remember to breath and have fun – it is such an awesome time of your life.”
