On 30 October 2010 Phil married Ariska in front of 86 of their closest friends and family at the beautiful chapel at The Plantation in Port Elizabeth.

ATTIRE

Ariska wore a beautiful tulle lace overlay Maggie Sottero gown, which had a slim, A-line silhouette that hugged her figure just beautifully. It was adorned with large elaborate floral motifs, which created a beautiful three dimensional effect.

Her gorgeous shoes were bought in the UK, a brand famously known as Irregular Choice.

The bride looked gorgeous with flawless make-up by Iris Gomez and Andre, at Andre’s Hair Studio finished her look with a soft curl and floral hairpiece.

Both Phil and his best man got their suits from the UK. Phil bought his at Marc Wallace whilst his best man rented a suit from Dapper.

DETAILS

“With my wedding planner, Megan Moller from Confetti Events by my side we managed to take the theme I had and make it a reality with the help of Lynley from Floral Creations.

I wanted my wedding theme to have a warm feel to it, so I chose a classic rustic look incorporating colours of mocha brown, cream and lavender, says Ariska.” Lynley incorporated Ariska’s favourite flowers, Daisies and Roses, together with lavender, greenery and willow sticks. The tables had cream brocade table cloths, with tall glass trumpet vases on raised mirrors all hired from Designer Décor.

The tall floral centrepieces were surrounded by glass candle holders with thick round candles and small mushroom vases with bits of wound up vine and daisies. These were finished off with beautiful butterfly details.

Natalie from B-Unique Stationery ensured that all the stationery matched our overall look with her stunning designs.

At the chapel a white carpet was put down the centre of the aisle and rose petals and lavender sprigs were sprinkled alongside of it. Each bench had a bunch of Lavender sprigs tied to it.

THE CAKE

House of Bakes was responsible for their amazing cake, which Ariska described as “absolutely delicious”. With individual tube servings they alternated the flavours. Some had chocolate sponge with strawberry buttercream topped with a truffle, and others had Vanilla sponge cake with chocolate mousse and vanilla buttercream finished off with a truffle.

FUN IDEAS

In the garden of The Plantation, Lynley hung Chinese lanterns from the trees with a few fairy lights in between. The couple also opted for an additional relaxation area which comprised of a beautiful white Bedouin tent with lovely white furniture. Guests were entertained with the beautiful sound of Claire singing while they had canapés and cocktails.

PHOTOGRAPHS

True to her style, Cherie Theron captured some beautifully romantic photographs. Ariska describes one of her most memorable moments as the time whilst they had their creative shoot. “The photoshoot was brilliant, we had so much fun and the photo’s look amazing”, says Ariska.

ADVICE

Words of wisdom from Ariska: "Try not to stress out, because (like everyone say) it takes over a year to plan and the actual day is over in a heartbeat. Try and take it all in on the day, look around the venue and look at everything you have planned and had in your mind and dreamed off, and just see how it’s all became a reality. Most of all have fun."

Taryn and her bridesmaids enjoy their night before the wedding at the beautiful venue, Villa Tuscana. They enjoyed a lovely breakfast there before getting ready. Afrika, their chauffeur for the morning arrived with a beautiful white Chrysler C300 which transported her to The Plantation in style.

Driving to the quaint chapel in the Victorian horse-driven carriage from The Plantation made Taryn feel like a true princess on route to meet her prince charming Michael. “The look on his face as I walked down the aisle escorted by my dad was priceless”, says this bride who tied the knot at this beautiful Port Elizabeth country venue on 24 April 2010.

During their ceremony the couple lit the unity candle which symbolised their union as one while they were blessed with a special prayer.

ATTIRE

Well known designer, Jason Kieck designed and made Taryn’s beautiful snow white dress. The mermaid style dress made from dutchess satin had an interesting off the shoulder bat wing sleeve in soft tulle and lace. The fitted bodice which also adorned lace, was delicately beaded in strategic places with beautiful Swarovski crystals. The bottom of the dress featured jaggered tulle bits and this amazing gown was finished off with a bow detail around the waist.

Taryn’s make-up was done by the amazing make-up artist Theano Zenios and she bought her shoes and accessories from Catherine at Catherine's Bridal. Stanley Delport at Shockwaves finished off her glamorous look with beautiful soft curls.

Michael and his best man hired their suits from Heinz in Style and looked equally charming with a classic black and white combination.

DETAILS

Taryn describes her wedding day décor style as elegant simplicity in white and matt silver. For her the focal point was to have an array of white roses, white orchids and gladiola’s. The table cloths were white damask with silver charger plates hired from designer décor. Lynley from Floral Creations by Lynley made a luxurious ball shaped arrangement of about 70 white roses that topped off the tall trumpet vase which was filled with clear gel balls and finished off with an interesting vine wreath. Lynley also hung crystals from the vases in places. Two smaller ball shaped arrangements of roses on either side, set off with additional tea light candles was added to create a more romantic feel.

Black and white photographs of the couple with love quotes made by Papermasters hung in the canapé area as well as the walkway that lead from the chapel to the reception venue. Lynley also hung crystal strings and glass balls with single roses in different places. The guests were treated to some romantic music by The Jaywalkers while they enjoyed their canapés and drinks. The chapel also had the same romantic feel with a lot of white flowers and candlelight. Lynley decorated the pews with white wooden hearts which each had a single white rose. The wishing well was decorated with ivy and white rose heads and finished off with crystals.

THE CAKE

Werner from Starburst Deli baked us two different types of cakes, death by chocolate and angel fruit cake. Every second guest had a different filling. Each of these individual white chocolate mousse cakes were encased with white chocolate and decorated with small white chocolate roses. The cake was served with ice-cream.

DIY BRIDE

“I wrapped our truffle favour boxes which were our gifts to the guests with beautiful matt silver wrapping paper and tied personalised ribbon around each box”, says Taryn. “I also bought a lot of pink and white sweeties and silver packets and created my very own candy buffet where the guests were able to help themselves as they pleased.” Papermaster printed beautiful monogram stickers which were stuck onto the packets.

PHOTOGRAPHS

Liezl Barrow from Pro Design Photographers was responsible for the beautiful photo’s taken during the couple's wedding.

ADVICE

Taryn’s advice to future brides: “Start planning sooner rather than later and keep a wedding diary/folder for all your ideas. Try to relax, breath and enjoy the moments because the day flies by so quickly. Try to take a little time away with your new husband to have a quiet moment away from the guests and invest in a wedding planner if you are able, it works wonders”. I used Megan from Confetti Events and my day was flawless!
