Ten Edible Favours

We all know that giving guests wedding favours that aren’t edible or practical is a waste of money. Be practical and give your guests favours they’ll appreciate. Who’s going to say no to a delicious treat to eat?

These delicious edible favours always go down a treat.

Biscuits or Rusks

Be creative and start baking in the week leading up to your wedding, or ask someone to bake for you. What is nicer that homemade biscuits or rusks? Pack them in pairs and package in clear wrapping. Personalise them with a label or card and add the finishing touch with a pretty ribbon. Voila, your guests will love these!

Candy Bar

Instead of giving individual gifts, why not have a candy buffet where guests can help themselves. Fill glass vases with sweets coordinated with your wedding colour, or go ‘old-school’ and have multiple colours for a dramatic effect. Provide the guests with take-away boxes or packets, personalised with a label to fill with sweets.

Biltong or Dry Wors

Nothing says South African Wedding more than biltong and dry wors favours. This is especially a good idea if you are having a lot of overseas guests. Package in pvc boxes or organza bags and tie with a ribbon. Your guests are guaranteed to finish these before they go home.

Chocolate Covered Coffee Beans

Gourmet chocolate-covered coffee beans packaged in pretty polka-dot or striped tins will give guests an end-of-the-evening boost.

Mini Cupcakes

Mini cupcakes - made to look like a part of your wedding cake - are the perfect treat. Get cupcake boxes and let guests package them up or enjoy them right there on the spot.

Ice-cream Buffet

At the end of the evening, after all the formalities, bring out the ice-cream! Give the guests two options of ice-cream, such as vanilla and chocolate, and bombard them with many different topping choices, of which can include, chocolate or caramel sauce, chocolate sprinkles, toffee, banana, fresh fruit and many more.

Nuts, Mints or Chocolates

These traditional wedding favours are easy to find and liked by all. You can’t go wrong with these.

Fudge or Coconut Ice

These are also traditional eats in South Africa. And if you don’t like the one, you sure to love the other. Sweet treats like these will not make home.

Jelly Beans

These come in all different shapes and sizes, and who would say not to this? These jellybeans can form part of your decor and you can chose to go single or multiple colours.

Dried Fruit

If you’re prefer a healthier option, then this would be your choice. Dried mango, apples and pears are sure to be loved by many.
