When we first walked onto the wooden deck overlooking the Bitou River I was quite simply blown away by the view and the tranquil ambience you feel immediately. Upon closer inspection the amazing arts & crafts that have been put together so carefully & lovingly makes this place unlike anywhere we have ever been. So choosing Emily Moon as our wedding venue was a no brainer and boy did they deliver a day that both of us as well as all of our guests have been gushing about since. Being South African and based in the UK we really wanted something unique and out of the ordinary and quite simply the day was more than we could ever have dreamed off. Di Valentine helped us plan every last detail but more importantly went over and above the call of duty in doing the little things that made everything work like clockwork. She arranged an amazing African band that gently played to our guests who were enjoying cocktails and a magnificent sunset. The food (deboned leg of lamb, line fish) done by Larry was to put it simply - out of this world and everyone of our 86 guests commented on how amazing it was. The service was relaxed, welcoming and professional - which is very rare mix and put our guests into a relaxed frame of mind & ready to party the night away.We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was unbelievable - from the magnificent view to the outside shower to the rustic artifacts that have been collected from all over the world - we just loved every second of waking up on the first morning as husband and wife .We have fallen in love with Emily Moon so much so that we will be back - not once but on as many anniversaries as we can. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone thinking of visiting the Garden Route in South Africa must stop at Emily Moon in Plettenberg - it is a must!

Our wedding was at Emily Moon on 11 March 2010. We would not have changed a single second of it. Everyone - owners, managers and staff on the lodge side and the restaurant side alike – bent over backwards for us, whether it was by smoothly co-ordinating all the suppliers turning up on the day, by setting up an indoor wedding and an outdoor wedding for us so we had a back-up in the event of bad weather, by being charming and friendly and efficient, by doing everything they could to ensure we could all keep our party going for as long as possible (until 5 am as it turned out) and by agreeing to and performing every request of a very high-maintenance bride and groom quickly and without a word of complaint. The place is absolutely beautiful – Simon, Diane and their team at the lodge have created a fabulously appointed and intimate setting full of magical little details everywhere you look and Larry, Werner and the restaurant team run a flawless and delicious set-up. We could not have asked for a more magical or a more stress-free (which is saying something) wedding. Thank you so much.
