The Queen’s eldest granddaughter, Zara Phillips married Mike Tindall at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland on Saturday, 30 July 2011.
Thousands lined the narrow city street hoping to catch a glimpse of Zara, once considered a royal rebel due to her low-cut tops, daring miniskirts and tongue piercing.
Zara, 30, had arrived five minutes late for her nuptials. The pair emerged from the church beaming from ear to ear after becoming husband and wife in a 45-minute ceremony.
Zara’s Wedding Look
Chosen from the wedding boutique White Room in Minchinhampton, the gown was made of ivory duchess silk and ribbed faille with a corseted bodice and princess skirt. The silk faille straps formed a V-shape at the back and bias-cut raw-edged ribbons in silk faille and duchesse satin decorated the neckline.
Zara wore Jimmy Choo shoes and the Greek Key tiara loaned to her by her mother, Princess Anne. Her hair was pulled up in a classic French twist by Evangelos Tsiapkinis from the Mayfair salon MichaelJohn.
The groom wore a suit adorned with coattails.
The Flowers
The church was covered with white roses and beech tree branches. Phillips carried a bouquet of lilies.
The Guests
In attendance for the ceremony were Phillips’ cousins Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, plus Duchess Kate.
Some of the most famous names from English rugby were also in attendance.
Bridesmaid Dresses
The bridesmaids wore cute ivory dresses while maid of honour Dolly Maude looked amazing in her high-necked gown, also made by Parvin
The Proposal
Tindall, 32, proposed to Phillips, 30, in December at their £800,000 regency townhouse in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, after they had been together for the previous seven years.
The Reception
A private reception followed the vows at Palace of Holyroodhouse, one of the Queen’s residences.
